The ultrafiltration membrane acts as a physical barrier that retains suspended particles, bacteria, algae, protozoa and certain viruses, as well as macromolecules such as proteins and certain organic matter. It does not retain small dissolved organic molecules (pesticides, solvents…) nor dissolved salts. It therefore does not demineralize the water.
The compacted activated carbon filter retains chlorine and its derivatives, volatile organic compounds (solvents, pesticides, herbicides, hydrocarbons...), natural organic matter, fine particles and certain heavy metals. It is an ideal filter to improve the taste and smell of the water.
The smooth sediment filter retains solid particles suspended in the water whose size is greater than 5 microns. It mainly eliminates fine sand, silt, mud, rust and organic debris.
